Now, you have to identify those two options for each blank using the grammar rules, vocabulary and collocations. Then, select the most appropriate and academic word for that particular blank. By this, there is a very high chance that you guess the correct answer.

Grammar Rule: If there is a blank right after the helping verb (HV) is/am/are/was/were, there will either be the 'third form' or 'continuous form of the verb' (with 'ing').
